On past Service Tours, our groups built schools in needy communities of Zambia and Bangladesh, and a multi-purpose community center in Peru. Our participants have had life changing experiences while impacting the lives of others.
This year, IRFF is partnering with the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation on a project in the village of Rasoun, Jordan. Join us as we renovate the local boys’ and girls’ primary schools and improve the quality of life of the community’s children.

I want to continue with this volunteer work and with helping others, for living for others. This experience has made me aware that I need to change the direction of my life, to dedicate my life to others.”

Purpose of Discover True Friendship Service Tour:
The purpose of this Service Tour is twofold. Most obviously, it is an opportunity for young men and women living in affluent countries to serve our brothers and sisters who live without the many luxuries that we take for granted. More importantly, the Service Tour is a chance for people of different races, nationalities, religions and languages to break down the barriers of division and create “true friendships” of understanding and appreciation by working towards a common goal.
Components of the Discover True Friendship Service Tour:
Service Project: Renovate two schools - one boys’ and one girls’ - in the village and fix up the local park and playground.
Educational Experience: Learn about the challenges facing the people of Jordan, issues related to poverty and international development and practices of sustainable development.
Discover ‘True Friendships’: Work with local villagers to improve their community and learn about their lives and culture.
Visit Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and Non-Profits: Meet with UNICEF, UNESCO and other organizations to learn about their work in Jordan; visit local schools and community organizations.
Visit Petra: A once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore the magical city built into towering cliffs by the ancient Nabataean people, recently named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
One of the new wonders of the world, Petra is without doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here over 2000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome.
Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over a half mile in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 250 foot high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colors and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (the Treasury – pictured to the left).
This is an awe-inspiring experience - a massive façade, 90 feet wide and 130 feet high, carved out of the sheer, dusky pink rock-face and dwarfing everything around it. It was carved in the early 1st century as the tomb of an important Nabataean king and represents the engineering genius of these ancient people.
Other Sightseeing and Activities: Visit Jerash, a beautifully preserved and restored Greco-Roman city. See amphitheatres, Roman baths the Hippodrome and temples. Tour the capital city of Amman and the temple of Hercules as well as the 5,000 seat Roman theater at the foot of the Citadel.
